Il Cascinone Alasia Riserva

Alasia Alta Langa is obtained from the vineyards of our Il Cascinone estate in Acqui Terme municipality and represents the only sparkling wine production of the estate. The vineyards are characterized by a steep slope, complex soils and a particular microclimate, a meeting point between currents of marine origin that rise from the valleys of the Erro river and Bormida river and cool breezes that descend from the Alps with a considerable temperature range between day and the night. These pedoclimatic peculiarities create a terroir with unique characteristics.

COMPOSITION  OF THE CUVÉE: The cuvée is made from 100% Pinot Noir harvested by hand in boxes from vineyards with North and East exposure at an altitude ranging from 250 and 400 m, with a plant density of 4.000- 4.500 vines per hectare. The soils are of various matrices: sandstone, alluvial gravel, clay-limestone silt and calcareous marl.

DOSAGE: Brut

PRODUCTION TECHNIQUE: After a soft pressing of the grapes, the must is fermented at a low temperature in stainless steel vats. The tirage is carried out around February in order to continue with the second fermentation in the bottle followed by a period of ageing on the lees of about 80 months. The disgorgement is carried out “à la glace” and is followed by a low dosage (about 6 g/l).

OENOLOGIST’S REMARKS: Fresh apple, citrus and honey on the nose with complex savoury brioche characters. On the palate ripe orchard fruit and subtle citrus flavours come to the fore with some leesy, toasty notes in the background. Medium-bodied with fresh acidity, an attractive creamy texture and prominent fruit on the finish.

FIRST VINTAGE PRODUCED: 1999
