Consorzio Alta Langa and the International Alba White Truffle Fair: 10 years of shared values

Ten years of encounters, projects, dinners, masterclasses, cooking shows and relationships built over time. In 2026, the Consorzio Alta Langa and the International Alba White Truffle Fair celebrate the tenth anniversary of their partnership, a collaboration launched in 2017 and strengthened over the years around a shared belief: a territory can truly be enhanced when its distinctive products and traditions come together, creating new opportunities for culture, knowledge and exchange.

The anniversary takes on an even deeper meaning in a year when the Fair has chosen “authentic relationships” as its theme – a concept that perfectly reflects the journey shared by Alta Langa DOCG and Alba White Truffle, two deeply distinctive products born from the same land and, each in its own way, expressions of the high hills of the Langhe.

“Our relationship with the Truffle Fair actually began informally with the establishment of the Consortium itself, back in 2001, and it is one of the collaborations that best reflects the way we seek to promote Alta Langa DOCG,” says Giovanni Minetti, President of the Consorzio Alta Langa. “It has never been simply about sharing events and promotional opportunities with the Fair Authority, but about building an authentic relationship over time, based on mutual understanding and a shared commitment to enhancing an extraordinary territory. Alba White Truffle and Alta Langa DOCG naturally have different identities, but they share the same values: the biodiversity of the territory and its preservation, respect for human endeavour, the value of time and the pursuit of excellence. Both are also symbols of an unparalleled food and wine culture, one of Piedmont’s strongest assets.”

Stefano Mosca, Director of the International Alba White Truffle Fair, adds: “We are delighted and proud to celebrate ten years of a partnership that has seen both the International Alba White Truffle Fair and the Consorzio Alta Langa grow and evolve. It is a strong relationship, founded on continuous dialogue and mutual enrichment, and rooted in exceptional products and shared values. A love of the territory, a passion for quality and attention to detail have guided both organisations throughout this journey of evolution. The achievements of these years encourage us to keep raising the bar and to look ahead with enthusiasm and confidence as this authentic and fruitful relationship continues.”

Ten Years of Alta Langa and Truffle

Among the most immediate expressions of this collaboration are the pairings of Alta Langa DOCG and Alba White Truffle presented over the years during the Fair’s cooking shows by Italian and international chefs. Hundreds of encounters between Piedmontese Metodo Classico and one of the world’s most prized gastronomic ingredients have helped strengthen the perception of Alta Langa DOCG as a food-friendly wine, capable of accompanying and enhancing the complexity of cuisine and, in particular, the Alba White Truffle.

Another emblematic event is Capodanno del Tartufo – Tuber primae noctis, conceived as part of the collaboration not simply as a celebratory occasion – raising a glass of Alta Langa DOCG at midnight to mark the opening of the Alba White Truffle hunting season – but also as an opportunity to reflect on the relationship between people, nature and biological cycles, both in truffle and wine production.

Over the years, the partnership has also given rise to the Cene Insolite and numerous special events organised by the Fair, including events beyond Piedmont, such as those held at the Yacht Club de Monaco in 2021 and in Verbier, Switzerland, in 2023. These occasions brought Alta Langa DOCG and Alba White Truffle together on an international stage, sharing the story of Piedmont’s food and wine culture.

Another highlight was the dinner held in November 2022 at the Italdesign Prototype Museum, bringing together three expressions of regional excellence – territory, design and fine dining – through the cuisine of chef Luigi Taglienti.

The collaboration also reached Milan in October 2019, with “Prima dell’Alta Langa”, featuring a masterclass dedicated to Alba White Truffle and the presentation, together with chef Davide Oldani, of the XFetta truffle shaver: an example of the two organisations’ ability to create initiatives where wine, gastronomy, innovation and design become part of one shared narrative.

And then there are the Alta Langa Magnum and Truffle Dinners at Castello di Roddi, as well as numerous dinners for Italian and international media – privileged occasions to introduce opinion leaders to the denomination and its territory through the encounter between Alta Langa DOCG wines and Alba White Truffle.

From Promotion to Knowledge

Over the course of the decade, the collaboration has progressively expanded beyond the events themselves.

The masterclasses dedicated to Alta Langa DOCG included in the Fair’s programme have provided opportunities for education and knowledge-sharing with wine enthusiasts and professionals, while the cooking classes for journalists and international audiences in Roddi have offered a direct way to experience the territory through its signature products and the people who preserve its traditions.

The partnership has therefore also created a shared body of knowledge over the years.

It is no coincidence that a chapter dedicated to Alba White Truffle was included in the book Alta Langa: storia di una denominazione, further testimony to a shared journey in which wine also becomes a means of telling the story of the history, culture and landscape of the high Langhe hills.

A Relationship Rooted in the Territory

The partnership has ultimately developed an even deeper and more virtuous dimension: the protection and enhancement of the natural heritage.

In 2021, together with the Centro Nazionale Studi Tartufo, a programme was launched to raise awareness among Consorzio Alta Langa members and encourage the allocation of areas of land for the planting of trees that form symbiotic relationships with truffles, supporting good practices for the development and preservation of truffle grounds across the hills within Alta Langa’s area of origin.

The initiative perfectly encapsulates the meaning of a collaboration that, over ten years, has gone far beyond product promotion: from glass to plate, from gastronomy to culture, and ultimately to the preservation of landscape and biodiversity.

The programme opens on the night of 30 September in Alba with the traditional Capodanno del Tartufo, raising a glass of Alta Langa DOCG to mark the opening of the Alba White Truffle hunting season, which in Piedmont runs from 1 October to 31 January.

COOKING SHOWS AND TRAMONTI GOURMET: APERITIVI D’ECCELLENZA

The Cooking Shows are live culinary performances in which a leading chef prepares a dish before an audience, introducing the ingredients and guiding guests through every step of the recipe. They offer a chance to experience the atmosphere of a fine restaurant during the autumn season, as the aromas of exceptional ingredients mingle with the unmistakable fragrance of Alba White Truffle.

The gourmet creations of some of Italy’s and the world’s leading chefs invite guests on an imaginary journey through the distinctive flavours of Piedmontese and Italian cuisine.

“Tramonti Gourmet: Aperitivi d’Eccellenza” enriches the programme with a new cooking-show format: an elegant Italian-style aperitivo combining culinary artistry with the pleasure of a toast. In an intimate and atmospheric setting, a leading chef prepares two small gastronomic creations live, designed to accompany a glass of Alta Langa DOCG and a tasting of Vermouth di Torino IGP.
