Calissano makes not only the great Langhe reds but also Classic Method sparkling wines and, above all, vermouth, the aromatized wine served at every Piedmontese table.
It was not only local consumption to drive growth: in the early nineteenth century Luigi Calissano & Figli opened to overseas markets, even setting up a facility in New York.
Thanks to pioneers like Calissano, vermouth reached consumers worldwide, becoming a trend that is still very much in vogue.
Even today, after 150 years, Calissano is one of the most venerable vermouth producers and is ready for a comeback.
